GFSH Newsletter Special Edition
Hi folks,
Just a quick announcement to smooth out a little technical wrinkle…
A few days ago you received a message from me, asking you to confirm your subscription to my mailing list. I see that some of you didn’t confirm, so it occurred to me that maybe those who didn’t were thinking they didn’t need to because they’re already on the list!
My apologies for not being more clear.
The mailing list I invited you to the other day is my new one, introducing the new incarnation of the Guide for Self Healing website!
The mailing is actually my new free mini-course called Four Keys, which teaches foundational principles for getting healthier.
I needed to get your okay to put you on that list. If you haven’t confirmed, no need to hunt for that email - simply sign up HERE.
I think you’ll enjoy it - it’s a distillation from decades of research and experience, in a very condensed form that packs essential wisdom and practical tips into four short emails.
There will also be periodic newsletters as before, and let me know what topics you’d like to read about.
Thanks, and have a warm and healthful Thanksgiving! Enjoy the Four Keys, and please feel free to take advantage of the many articles and resources on the website.
All the best,
Karen

GFSH Newsletter, Fall ‘07
Hi folks,
Fall is a great time to start making adjustments to your diet that will help support your health through the changing seasons.
I’m happy to announce that I’m rolling out my new service–healthy eating guidelines, completely customized for each individual using powerful, new software. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, and it’s exciting to finally have it up and running.
The great thing about this (well, there are many) is that it gives people an easy way to get their feet wet with improving their diet. Usually there’s a steep learning curve involved in figuring out what’s best to eat, and the whole thing is so frustrating and confusing for many people.
But this makes it easy–you fill out an online questionnaire (and who doesn’t think that’s fun!), which I analyze with the help of the software. You get a color-coded food chart, emailed to you as a .PDF file, perfect for putting up on the fridge. It shows you which foods are best for you, which are okay to eat occasionally, and which to eat only rarely or avoid entirely.
Here’s the whole scoop:

There are links there to a sample chart and to the questionnaire.
Email consults are still being offered as before, with or without the food chart.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

GFSH Newsletter, Summer ‘07
Hi folks, and happy summer!
A few quick words about sunshine - Get some! Sunlight is the radiant energy we need not only for production of Vitamin D and many important hormonal processes, but the soul/spiritual function of “inner light metabolism.”
We’re told it’s best to stay out of the sun and use sunscreen, but nothing could be further from the truth. It’s best to avoid burning, and to expose skin to sun judiciously. Use clothing to cover up when necessary, but get out in the sun and partake of glorious life energy.
A few new articles:
Water, Water Everywhere, Nor Any Drop to Drink talks about water, salt and hydration - not all water is hydrating, and not all salt is created equal. The water-salt polarity has deep significance for human life. Your next glass of water will be a whole new experience!
Oil Pulling. This one is NOT terribly popular. Who wants to swish sesame oil in their mouth for 15 minutes in the morning?! I was not lining up for this one, at first, until I discovered the remarkable health benefits. This is actually an ancient Ayurvedic practice, taken to a new level. It can reverse all sorts of dental problems, and acts as a mini liver flush to pull toxins out of the body safely and gently. It’s one of the things I recommend to almost everyone - easy, cheap, effective and covers so many bases.
All for now - thanks for reading, and please feel free to post comments on the website.
Warm summer wishes,
Karen Robinson

GFSH Newsletter, Winter ‘07
Hi folks,
I’ve been immersed in studies with the Hahnemann College for Heilkunst, so the Guide for Self-Healing newsletters are few and far between these days. Rather than monthly, I think the cycle will more realistically be seasonally :). But I continue to update the site with new articles.
What is Heilkunst?
A little background
People often ask me what Heilkunst is, because it’s not a commonly known name even in the natural medicine field. Heilkunst is the complete system of medicine developed by the German medical doctor Samuel Hahnemann, in the first half of the 19th century. It means “the art of remediation,” and this includes healing and curing, both. I’ll discuss the important distinction between the two, because those words have specific meanings.
Dr. Hahnemann gave us not just another natural healing method to tack on to the list, but a whole system for understanding when and how to use therapies according to clearly defined laws of nature. Modern Heilkunst has developed into a powerful system for tackling even the most complicated, chronic health issues that people are facing.

Are Pharma Drugs All Bad News?
Q: I’ve talked with my neighbor a few times and suggested they leave meds alone and not to take them. They have been on a lot of different medications for many years and they still have not cured their problem. So I suggested, don’t you think you should let your body heal naturally and not take any more poisons?
A: It’s a noble idea, although there’s some confusion about what it means to “let your body heal naturally.” That will be another discussion! But for now, let’s look at some important practical considerations. Some meds really require weaning off over a period of time, and can have disastrous effects if they’re stopped suddenly. And often people really need to get grounded in a better system for treating their problems before making a drastic change. It really depends on the individual situation…

A dilemma you may be facing and how I can help…
You’re seeking natural healing methods. But you’re overwhelmed and wondering where to begin or how to fit the pieces together. The experts all give you different views, and you’re on your own to sort things out.
It’s a common problem - navigating through the multitude of conflicting methods and information on natural healing. How can you distinguish the wheat from the chaff, and create a rational, cohesive program that addresses your own personal priorities? How do you even determine what those priorities are?
